The Gallatin Municipal Regional Planning Commission recently adopted updated procedures for soliciting public comment on zoning amendment applications. Under the new procedures, the Planning Division will post blue public notice signs on properties being considered for zoning changes.

The public notice signs will be posted at least ten (10) days prior to consideration by the Planning Commission and will remain posted on the property until after the 2nd reading of the Ordinance by City Council.
In addition to the public notice signs, notices about the formal Public Hearing at City Council will be published in the Gallatin Newspaper at least 15 days prior to the date of the scheduled public hearing. Adjoining property owners will also be mailed notice about the City Council public hearing,
The public has several opportunities throughout the zoning process to provide comments about a proposed zoning amendment. The Planning Commission will formally request public comment prior to considering each zoning amendment and City Council will hold a formal public hearing at the City Council meeting between consideration of the 1st and 2nd reading of the Ordinance for the zoning amendment.
Please contact the Planning Division at (615) 451-5796 to obtain information about a public notice sign. Draft Public Participation Policy
